back again!

i tried to call home today, but apparently people don't answer calls from funny looking numbers. it wasn't important, jack just offered his phone so i thought i'd try. tomorrow is saturday, so i think we're going to try to get out of here for a little while. the owner of our hotel is from the states and has a friend who owns a coffee farm about 40 km from here. he said he'd take us up there for a tour. he gave me a bag of ground beans that came from there and i french pressed a few cups this morning (roughing it, i know...) and it was a great way to start my day.
the americans here are from nebraska and iowa and have been very generous in sharing their home (right next door to us) and thier food. they have a crock pot and a hot plate, so you know what that means...cookery! i attempted to make pasta tonight, but their crock pot gets waayyyyy hotter than i thought, so it was like, african goulash. the boys were great sports and ate it all. however, we all got a big laugh out of it, and you would have too if you saw it. they just picked up an oven today, so the possibilities really are endless. the guys have been a lot of fun to hang out with, and have been a big help in just about everything we do. we're very very thankful for their generosity.
i hope everyone is doing well. i apologize in advance if i disappear for days at a time - the internet connection is just about as predictable as the water supply.
happy valentines day!!

peace

  1. I believe it! I hope you had enough cash for that!

I'm sooooo bummed I missed your call! Stupid workplace that has no reception!

Have fun at the coffee farm! I bet you can't bring that back with you, huh? Customs might not love that...

Have a great weekend! Keep savings lives!
    Love you,
    Jenny
