so, the internet has been more reliable. however, the electricity and plumbing are out for the weekend. nbd. we're going to a waterfall today just about an hour from here, so i'm super jazzed about that.
we met with the director of the hospital today, so it was nice to finally complete the circle of all of the connections we need to make. they keep telling us that we're not here for long enough. the nurse of the men's ward told me that i need to finish school so that i can come live in serenje and work in the hospital. there would be some serious changes...first order of business: hand washing. i have yet to see anybody wash their hands. the hospital is way understaffed and lacking a lot of resources, but they're doing a great job with the things that they do have access to. their physical exam skills far exceed mine for sure. i rely on my equipment and scans and tests and what not - hence the cost of healthcare in the US.
anyways, the boys got an oven and one of them has a birthday today - and it's valentines day!!! so...three reasons for cookery. that will happen later. we got a cell phone today - so some of you can expect some random numbers on your caller ID.
i hope all is well at home. i heard the weather is bad, so i won't complain about the rain. it's currently downpouring but i'm sure it will be sunny in about an hour.

ReplyDeleteThe weather is not bad, just snowy. Snow in itself is not bad, just snow without large vertical drops to throw yourself down. I will say, however, it would have been fun to see the mini handle the 7 inches we got yesterday.
Glad to hear things are going well! I'm impressed by the availability of the interwebs over there...

I am glad to hear that things are coming along. I'm a little disturbed though by the hand washing. That's the first thing you learn to do in lab. Yes we did accumulate a few inches of snow. I was the big girl/good roommate that shoveled the entire driveway and side walks by myself. Anyways, I hope that all is well. Hugs!!!! Miss you bunches and it hasn't even been a week. :-(
