buenos dias!
We spent more time in the van than out of it yesterday. The drive to this village was about 3 hours. in the back of a pick-up. on a wooden bench. but i'm not complaining...
There were more than 200 people waiting at the community center when we arrived, so we quickly set up shop. We have about 25 people in three vehicles, and another truck with our supplies. John, Valerie and I "triaged" people before sending them to the doctors. John learned how to take blood pressures and blood sugars, and is doing much better than we are at speaking espanol.
Al has been taking lots of pictures. He has been very helpful in doing crowd control and being available to do just about anything. He's doing very well with his spanish, and may be fluent by the time we return.
We're headed out to another village today, and will probably be at a different one the next day. At this rate, we will see about 100-200 patients/day, God willing. It's been sunny and warm, but today we woke up to rain and the thickest fog i've ever seen. hopefully it clears up before we get on the road.
Thanks for checking in!
Mark & Sara - i took LOTS of chicken and chicken coop photos. be prepared. the chickens aren't very noisy at all, so i don't think that will be an issue.
